Hmm, this page is starting to get long. I may have to divide it up.......*pffff* like THAT's going to happen.
1/24/01 - I am currently enjoying not attending my American Government class. Ahhh...... so nice. I can only miss one more unexcused class this semester though before I get in trouble. Oh well. It is worth it. I couldn't handle a horrible Bio lecture and a horrible Am Gov lecture in the same day. We talked about stupid plants again! AHHH! Awful! The good news is - I have m microessay done and after Philosophy, we are going to Blue Man Group. So......happy.......kick.......so much......ass...... 1/23/01 - Almost time to run off to Chem lab, so I'm not writing much. Too bad! As you can see, the page is actually back up now. Yay. Oh! I got my movies from eBay yesterday (or the day before?). So........cool...........can't contain.......joy. The full list is: The Evil Dead Trilogy, Predator, The Thing, Dark City, Aliens, Highlander, and The Matrix. And I think this weekend we're going to try to watch the first of the Dragon Ball Z videos in CNS. It will be awesome if we can pull it off! Time to mix things to make other things.........stupid. 1/21/01 - Well, this weekend we watched many things including: Nightmare on Elm Street 3, the Big Lebowski, The Untouchables, Fight Club and the rest of the Dragon Ball videos. Umm.........damn. I was going to say other things I think, but I don't know any. Oh well. OOOO! We played Apples To Apples until 4 am and it was awesome! yay. Oh, i remember what I was going to say - all those things I mentioned last time that I might do this weekend? Yeah, I didn't do any of them. Woohoo. 1/19/001 - We rented the Big Lebowski and Nightmare on Elm Street 3 last night, so we've got some good movie-watching ahead this weekend. I think I am going to go home today to pick up my much-needed razor. I will mostly likely be back before dinner. This weekend, there are a number of things that I might do, but haven't really decided whether I'm going to yet. They are: go to the philosophy party/dinner thing, go to the Sig Pi "rave" (we'll see how much of a "rave" it will be), and try out for Quickies. All of these are as-of-yet undecided. Oh, here's an interesting tidbit - just yesterday
we found out that our kitten that we've had for several months is actually
a male, not a female. We dicovered this only upon taking 1/16/01 - What a great day. All I had was one Chem lab and we even got to do cool things in there. We burned magnesium and put reactive things into acids and stuff. The bad thing is that I have now learned that I left my electric razor at home. By the end of the week I fear that people will not let me into the building for fear of "that crazy hobo running amuck". So far I've been keeping up with my school work, which is good because it hasn't even been a week. So far I think I have perfect scores this semester. I better quit while I'm ahead. 1/15/01 - I'm tired. So very tired. Shawshank Redemption was on last night and I hadn't seen it so I stayed up watching it and then had to go to Chem and Bio at 8 stupid o'clock. That would all be fine if I didn't have 2 more 75 minute classes today. I think there's a good chance I'll probably die. And I've now gone home twice this last weekend and not once remembered to bring my sword home with me. I'm a bad person. 1/13/01 - Here's a quote of greatness for you: "Peace is a college campus on Saturday morning". The Palestinians should learn from the example here. Yester - ooo - phone. Stupid telemarketers. Anyway, yesterday I talked with Master Hyong for a while, and it turns out I get to graduate as an instructor on February 17. However, I have to write a paper for it this weekend. :-( We began watching Dragon Ball videos last night too. The first ones are pretty funny. Sometime soon I hope to engage in "eating". 1/10/01 - School has started. Boy has it started. This is shaping up to be a pretty tough semester. I sure hope Chemistry stays as easy as it was last semester, or I'm going to be screwed. Oh, and if I didn't whine to you about it yet, I had all 4 of my classes today, on the first day back. Horrible, I know. Will and I both unintentionally fell asleep around 4 today while trying to read. My sleep cycle is still way screwed up. I went to bed at 10:30 last night, trying to be a good student, but I didn't get to sleep until well after 12:30. Very frustrating. Stupid body. About the classes....let's see. Oh, the one good thing is that Bio is probably going to be a lot better than last semester. Instead of doing all sorts of intracelular and intraorganism crap, we're finally going to be dealing with animals, populations, evolution and so forth. Bring on the fighting and mating! Woohoo! Another good thing is that both my Bio and Chem teachers seem to be good and nice. Um, American Government shouldn't be a tough class, but I was hoping not to have any papers in there. Fortunately, we only have one, so it won't be too bad. However, we also have a group project, and you all know how much I just ADORE group projects. Philosophy should be an interesting class; however, it looks like I'm going to have somewhere between an assload and a crap load of work in there. We have several papers and six microessays, which we have to write before discussing the material in class. That's bad news and equates to lots and lots of reading and re-reading. Non school-related news is that I am currently doing the photo galleries of the site. Tonight I'm finishing the Home Friends section and maybe sometime I'll post some pics of my College Friends, if I have any laying around on the hard drive. 1/9/01 - Dan has now returned to college. In case you didn't figure it out already, I could not update my webpage from off-campus. Well, I'm back now and I'm currently working on putting up the picture galleries. We'll see how long that lasts. Um, I did stuffover Christmas break. Not too much stuff though. At any rate, I don't feel like writing about it now since I already moved in today and helped lots of people carry stuff and so forth. Anyway, hopefully the page will be updated semi-frequently from now on. I doubt it though. Don't get your hopes up. 12/11/00 - As you may have noticed, the page looks a little different now. The subtle difference you are noticing is this: it is much better now. I think the top frame navigator thing is cool, don't you? Look at that layer fly! (Oh wait - it doesn't work in IE yet, so use Netscape like a good Microsoft-hater). Umm......I've made most of the first-level pages I think, but the site is not nearly finished. Expecially the pictures. What you can do however, is just browse through the directory of the latest pictures from my digital camera. 11/27/00 - I have returned! Praise the Lord!! I'm back and better than ever people........well actually not. But, the important thing is that I brought back Home Site 4 to do my web work in. Oh god - it is SOOOOOO much better than composer. I'm in web-geek heaven here! Woohoo! Which means now I'm more likely to work on the new site design. It's going to have different colors and different navigational logic. It will be much better. Like a real website. You will like it. If only I could do any sort of imaging.........*sigh* Oh well. As for other things that happened this weekend, let's see. I watched the movie Mercy. That was interesting. Went to Curtis Orchand, saw Kyle, poked him in the eye, visited Sam Xu! and Heather Schmidt! at Heather Schmidt!'s house, ate good cookies and played competetive magnetic poetry there, watched assorted movies, and did other things. Just so you don't have to ask: It was good. Thanksgiving break was good. So don't ask. =P11/21/00 - Going home for Thanksgiving break. Site will not be updated until I return, but you guys can still catch me on AIM probably @ SomeDanGuy. Also, my number at home is 351-1797. The main line for our house is 351-1844. Try both is I don't answer my line. Have a great break peeps! Oh wait - that sounds too normal. What I meant was, May your turkeys be dead and plentiful! 11/20/00 - The Bond-playing frenzy does not show any signs of subsiding. As I suspected, Sun Awareness Week is not going to happen this week. But that means is shall be done later with much higher quality. I rented a digital camera for a little while today and took some pictures of the dorm which will soon be appearing here. The picture-taking took place of Biology studying. Oh well. The test was pretty dang hard. I did really well on the hormone and lab parts though I think. It was just those darn non-multiple choice ones about DNA/RNA that screwed me over. In aboot 13 minutes I will be attempting to register for a May term class. Who knows which one, if any I will be able to get into. Perhaps there will be an update later. And perhaps in the next month I will overhaul the site so it looks a little more decent and shows that I actually know a thing or 2 about the web and designing. 11/18/00 - An unhealthy amount of Bond-playing for people on my floor. Some guys played it a cumulative of 6 hours today. It was quite the social event though I must say with the 8 people in the room yelling and swearing and stuff. Went to Ryan and Will's jazz band concert. Will was tearin it up on the Congas and Ryan looked like his face was about to explode during his solos. We managed to fluster the student conductor guy by our loud cheering when he mentioned Ryan's name. (Apparently, they're not used to wild jazz band fans.) Oh, then there was some more Bond and we watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in the basement. Eventually, some of us got restless/burned out on Bond and decided to go outside. After randomly running around, freestyle walking, and visiting the sacred Judo Range at 2 am, we decided we needed to do something amusing to the campus for the students to enjoy. Eventually we decided upon creating our own phony awareness week. After some deliberation, we decided to make it Sun Awareness Week, where we pay respect and tribute to the sun. We went to Wal-Mart at about 2:30 to purchase some supplies. We got some neon yellow poster board, a bunch of orange and yellow flyer sheets and 4 yards of yellow ribbon to make people wear to show they're awareness of the sun. It's turned into quite a project. We're supposed to make all the stuff tomorrow and then put it up late Sunday night. I'm not sure it's going to get done, but I guess we'll just see. 11/17/00 - Skipped Chem today. It was
wonderful. Mmmm - extra hour of sleep........and Bio is SO much better now
that Dr. Criley is back. This is the first time that is was LATER than I
thought it should be when I checked my watch in class. For once, I don't
feel like I'm on the verge of sleep for the entire class period. Oh - and
I actually did social stuff today too. Cool, huh? I went to Carlos
O'Kelly's with Amy, Emila, and Jeff, who I had not met yet. Then we came
back and went to the "slam poet" guy. He was pretty good - very witty
playing with the English language. Then a bunch of us watched the Mystery
Science Theater 3000 movie in the lounge. (John, Matt and I of course, but
Jerry, Paul, Mike, Josh, and Jackie were there too. And random people
stopped by too, all at various levels of drunkenness as the night
progressed.) Then, after whooping the crap out of everyone at Bond in John
and Jerry's room, I noticed someone had mentioned the name "Gertner" in an IM to
Jerry. I know of one and only one Gertner, so I asked if it in fact WAS
Eric, and it was, so I went down to Fergie 211. There were a few people
there besides Eric that I vaguely recognized too - like Max and Nina.
Apparently, that is Jen and uh, dammit - someone's room. But I decided I
like that whole group of people there and should hang out with them more often
if possible. After that, I came back to my room to find Emilia asleep in
my bed because her roommate was doing Tae Bo. Thought that was kinda
funny. Anyway, that was at just after 2. Then I went to bed at about
6:30. 11/16/00 - Today I think I shall start with a little whining. This whining will pertain to registering for classes. I got into the system way early and got my philosophy class that I wanted. (Well, not first choice actually; that was already closed before I had a chance.) Then I had typed in all the codes for all the other classes and clicked my last clicked to register and then - BOOM! I'm booted out of the system back to the login page. When I finally made it back to where I register many minutes later, I tried to have 2 windows open at the same time, but it thought there was a break in attempt and logged me out again. When I finally made it back, most everyone else in the entire school had registered, so I didn't get the lab I wanted. That's bad. Now instead of having NO classes on Thursday, I have my stupid 3-hour chem lab starting at 8 stupid am. On the bright side today - I sat down and made a cool thing for the page here. You can now riddle my faces with bullets above. I wrote ALL the code myself and drew that amazing image on my own in Photoshop. It took many hours and lots of frustration, but it is cool. It probably would have taken about 3/4 the time if I could use a decent development program, because Netscape Composer is HORRIBLE............blech. Anyway, I feel better now that I made that. Go ahead - give me a click! 11/15/00 - Um, shouldn't have gone to chem today. Wish I knew that as I was laying in bed this morning. First one out of chem lab today. Woohoo! No more lab for 2 weeks! Went to ISU to see Becca and we found some month-old brownie type stuff. It was still moist and delicious. Mmmm. And Becca gave me a burned CD for my birthday. Haven't listened to it yet though. Now I'm typing here at midnight and probably driving Will out of his mind while he tries to sleep. Sorry Will. Oh - the sad news is that my philosophy class that i REALLY wanted to take is already full. And the backup one isn't looking good either....dammit. Don't know what I'm going to do with my schedule next semester now. Grr. 11/14/00 - Missed a journal entry yesterday. I was detained for many more hours than I expected on floor 3. But I don't regret one minute of it, no sir! Um, let's see - Chem test wasn't too bad yesterday, but it was a bit worse than I was expecting. That's ok though - it was the LAST ONE and I did well on most of the others, so yay. Plus, i absolutely kicked ass on last week's Bio test. Only 2 points short of the high score. Woohoo. Oh - and I didn't do a darned thing all yesterday. After lunch Will and I started to do some reading and then something about my Bio test just made me fall asleep. We both napped for a long time and Will almost missed his class. It was grreeeeat! As for today - I'm going to Philosophy and then to my last pig-disecting Bio lab. I'm kinda tired of disecting the pig now. It was fun at first, but we've done it for 6 hours now. Geez. And then I think I have a soccer game at 9 tonight. Well, my pig-desecting days are FINALLY over. Man I got tired of that pig. And it got really smelly at me. We also disected a sheep eyeball today, which was way grosser than and other stuff. First we had to cut away all the fat around it and Scott's still have eyelashes on it! Then we had to cut it in half and once we finally did that, it squirted and dripped all this nasty blackish liquid on us. It was quite uncool, let me tell you. Will is currently at a Jars of Clay concert and his girlfriend Erin is sleeping over tonight. And I have to go play soccer at 9, after which we have a floor meeting to discus the vandalization of our bathroom, which I now realise I haven't mentioned. This weekend, someone took all the toilet paper dispencers off the stall walls and shoved them and all the toilet paper into the toilets. The clean up fee is about $275 for some unknown reason. Everyone's been really pissed about this, so tonight at 10:30 we're just going to havea big bitch-fest. It should be kinda entertaining. 11/12/00 - Well, I am now officially 19. I can go to campus bars now. Woohoo. That will sure change my social life drastically. So you don't have to ask when you see me - yes, my birthday was good and I enjoyed it. However, this weekend wasn't so good on my gas tank. I went home on Friday, got tired of hanging around the catless house and went to our cottage in Effingham. We did some birthday stuff Saturday morning and then came back to Champaign in the afternoon. I went out to eat with Becky. We went to the IHOP where Philip was working surprisingly. That was fun. Oh - and she has a new kitten and a new PS2; both are cute and lots of fun, but the kitten has much sharper claws and teeth. Then I went to "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown", a musical at Parkland. Sally played Peppermint Patty. She did a good job and overall, the show was much better than I had expected out of a musical. At midnight I went over to Sam Xu's dorm to straight chill, yo. Heather Schmidt came by too and one of Sam's friends from the U of I was there too. We sat in the lobby trying to think of things to do for a very long time and eventually checked out the Pictionary game from the front desk. We were going to go to Sam's room to play, but we kind walked in on her roommate and her boyfriend......with the lights off......and on the bed. So we went to her friend Chris? room instead. Pictionary was pretty entertaining and then we watched the movie Shakma. It was about a psycho baboon. It was quite cool. Then I left. There's not many people on the road in Champaign at 4:30 am I noticed. I slept a loonnng time on Sunday then came back to Bloomington only the realise i forgot something at home - my backpack. Whoops. Will and I (but mostly just Will) made chili for dinner while those bastards at Fox didn't air Futurama. It was good and spicey and seemed to be enjoyed by all parties involved. It was made from "6-Gun Chili Mixin's" so you know it was good. After Simpsons, I drove home and got my stupid backpack. When I got back, my parking spot was gone so I parked at Shirk and walked all the stupid way back here and now I'm all dripping wet, although I have dried off considerably as I've typed this. Bed now. Bye. 11/9/00 - Uh oh - I didn't update this for a few days like I meant to. Oh well - luckily for me, nothing interesting ever happens, so no one will really care. Let's see....our indoor soccer team beat the faculty 5-4 yesterday. We (the good people on the team, not me) played really well and we deserved to win. One interesting part was that I was pounded straight in the solarplexis by a soccer ball. Kicked right in front of me about as hard as possible. It left pentagons on my chest and a huge red spot and well, I couldn't breathe real well for a while. What else? Hmm......got an A- on my second "microessay" in Philosophy, so I'm doing real well in that class. The good news is that our 4th essay is going to be optional since we are running behind, so I'm not going to do it. Yay! 11/6/00 - Took a Bio exam today. Wasn't too bad. Whoops - just realised I didn't look at my old test afterward. Crap. Now I won't be able to pout or argue about stuff that should have been right. Oh well, I dun good on the last wun anyweigh. Right now I'm revising a Gateway paper, or trying to anyway. I can't find a stupid citation. Hopefully it'll come up tomorrow. So who are you people voting for? I haven't decided yet if I'm going to make that big ol' trip home to vote or not. Guess I'll have to figure that out tomorrow. In case anyone asks, I still don't know exactly what I'm doing this weekend. All I know is that I'm going to be home at some point and at the cottage at some other point in time. Although it would be cool if I could be in both places at the same time, even though the effects of that would most likely be rather disastrous. After looking at this entry so far and realising how much I enjoy rambling about whatever comes to the top of my head, I decided to add the word "Ramblings" to the title above. This way, people won't read all this pointless junk and think they were cheated because I claimed it was news. Since I'm not doing much on the site like I used to be, I think news is now innaccurate. Anyway, back to revising my paper and listening to KMFDM advise me to spit something........ 11/5/00 - Hola ihr Alle! Hey, I can speak in whatever language
I please because I can rest assured no one in their right mind is ever
going to read this. Hmm, that opens up a lot of liberties to me,
knowing that no one is going to visit my site or care what I type.
Ah well. Let's see - weekend went surprisingly well. No really
uncomfotable moments. There was one really cool act in the talent show
involving darkness and waving lights. Trust me - it was every bit
as cool as it sounds. I also saw Bedazzled, which was pretty good;
there were certainly a few moments I found quite funny. Bio test
tomorrow - I did a good amount of reading for it, but I will definitely
be doing more tomorrow. Um....yep. I think that'll do it for
this heretofore lengthy news addition, but I think ones in the future will
tend to be long too. Makes a nice record of stuff that happens if
I do a decent of recording.
11/3/00 - Later today I added a Winter dance picture. Put up a picture of Dan Hartman that he sent me. I am going to Decatur this weekend people, so don't try and contact me. It just won't work. Headed for a weekend of awkward time meeting the girlfriend's family. Woohoo! I'll be back early afternoon on Sunday. 12:37ish or so. 11/2/00 - Dan is going to play indoor soccer tonight at 9. Yesterday,
our team beat Fergussen 9-1. That wasn't very fair. OH - and I've
decided to update this news section frequently and then store the old ones
in a News Archive.
10/30/00 - Divided into frames so there is actually a little navigator
at all parts of site. And look at the little hand! Yay! (This was
done at the expense of studying for Chem exam. We'll see how that
goes in 15 minutes.......)
10/26/00 - Received some letters for the advice column and responded. Before you ask, no - there are no inside jokes invovled. These are the exact letters I received. As for my reply........what can I say? Too much creativity is bad apparently. Oh, and 5 of the guys on my floor bought corn cob pipes yesterday. We're going to have them when we play poker and cheat some kid out of money. And I think we'll ineveitably start some sort of gang and charge protection fees for all the university buildings. |
